Brief history
In the oldest known “Tiendenbeschrijving” dating from 1231 is stated that the court with its included neighborhood was called “Wivercen” (from the Latin “Viversali”: vivarium (ponds) + sala (domicile)). Later it became Viverchines, Vijverchenen and Vijverselen. Many unearthed shards and artifacts indicate with certainty that the court was one of the oldest Franconian Merovingian settlements in the region. Centrally located in this court “Wivercen” stands the recently completely restored and imposing Meiseniersschuur.
Possibilities
The Meiseniersschuur and its surrounding 6-hectare large pond park is located near the Castle of Gaasbeek, easily accessible from the ring of Brussels. The sense of tranquility that this historic site radiates stands in stark contrast with the nearby capital. For medieval garden or wedding parties, team buildings or even quests in both small family circle as for medium-sized businesses, this location is perfect. They are currently working hard on an accompanying B&B for future accommodation.
Capacity
The Meiseniersschuur itself has a capacity for an indoor banquet for 150 guests. Also, the parking and sanitation facilities, as well as the industrial kitchen, are adjusted accordingly. The cobbled courtyard and the surrounding flower gardens can be transformed easily with medieval tents and canopies in a beautiful and clear site that can double the capacity.
