Brief history
The convention center and hotel Elzenveld houses some beautiful historical frameworks for events up to 480 people. The 15th century “Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekapel” with authentic décor and a still functioning church organ is often the backdrop for classic choir concerts. The adjoining presbytery exudes an atmosphere of tranquility and self-revelation. Integrated into this unique center, the Van Gessel Hall, a room with a space of 425m2 consisting of arch columns, where the St. Elisabeth Hospital was founded in the 13th century. Body care and strengthening the spirit is still the slogan of this beautiful location.
Possibilities
Elzenveld aims itself especially more on the large-scale events in downtown Antwerp. For shows, themed receptions or even interactive team building activities (with a somewhat serene vibe), the sacral character of the chapel and the presbytery offers a unique setting. The Van Gessel room or the somewhat more intimate monastery halls are ideal for a large-scale banquet with custom animations, shows,… Just strolling around or holding outdoor activities in the “haunted garden” is perfectly possible.
Furthermore, distant travelers or pilgrims can choose to spend the night at one of the – albeit modernized – 34 rooms. For seminars and plenary meetings, one can also use a fully equipped multimedia auditorium.
Capacity
The gigantic Van Gessel room offers space for 240 dining guests with accompanying animation. In walking dinner formula, this capacity doubles. The smaller rooms with adjoining monastery cloister garden are ideal for smaller banquets up to 70 people. In the chapel with side aisles, up to 250 people can sit in the church’s rows of seats, which can also be completely removed for walking buffets or presentations up to 200 people.
