Nowadays, Christmas markets are not what they used to be … with Quondam Midwinter we want to get visitors acquainted with an authentic medieval (Christmas) market; with authentic gifts made according to traditional methods, medieval amusement and customs, activities for kids, games and song … as well as medieval food and drink. And all of this within the enchanting castle domain "’t Hooghuys” and dozens of medieval traders’ tents from home and abroad. This heathen, generally 12-day feast of light, is the origin of what we now call, thanks to the Roman calendar and Christianity, “Christmas” on 25th of December.
